Rachel Williams

Rachel’s artistic journey began at three, nurtured by her parents’ encouragement and diverse experiences in New Hampshire and beyond. With a penchant for hands-on creativity, she explored mediums from painting to theatre. She attended high school mostly in New Hampshire with an exception of spending her junior year studying at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts before moving back to New Hampshire for her senior year. After graduating high school, Rachel pursued her passion for scenic artistry at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Under the mentorship of Susan Crabtree and Howard Jones, Rachel delved into a rigorous program that expanded her artistic horizons. She developed a deep appreciation for faux finishes and trompe l’oeil techniques, finding a love for the art of painting backdrops and exploring innovative methods to bring visions to life.

Upon graduating with her BFA in Scenic Art, Rachel embarked on her professional career as the Scenic Charge Artist for TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, AR. In this role, she continues to push the boundaries of her craft, finding new ways to create captivating faux finishes. She also paints drops out of a studio in Elkins and ships them to theaters nationwide. Throughout every chapter of her life, Rachel’s unwavering desire to create has remained steadfast. She thrives on the exploration of diverse materials that evoke joy within her, constantly seeking new avenues of expression. Presently, she finds herself immersed in the world of three-dimensional textures, eager to deepen her understanding of these mediums as they ignite her passion for creation. Grateful for her extensive training, Rachel marvels at the intuitive knowledge her hand possesses, effortlessly shaping forms as her mind enters a state of flow. With a deep-seated love for painting cartouche forms, she is exhilarated by the prospect of infusing them with dimensional textures, opening up endless possibilities for artistic exploration and expression.
