Dave Darpinian is a master of ancient metal art of “Repousse and Chasing” – A flat piece of fine silver is raised from the back and then finished on the front to create a 3-dimensional lifelike image using only hammer and chisels. A bowl of warm tree pitch is used to hold the metal as it is chiseled. Each work is handmade and one of a kind without the use of forms or molds.
